Humane Society of Cambria County
743 Galleria Drive Extension
Johnstown, PA 15904
Who We Are:
The Humane Society of Cambria County was founded in 1976 by Gail Suppes and a group of others
who were concerned about the welfare of stray and
unwanted companion animals within the county. The HSCC is a private, not-for-profit,
incorporated organization, holding a class NP kennel license. The shelter is
inspected and audited quarterly by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The HSCC
operates as an open entry shelter, meaning that we accept stray, as well as owner
surrendered companion animals, including those that are sick, elderly, pregnant,
injured or aggressive. We have accepted over 133,750 animals since the shelter
opened 35 years ago. The purpose of the Humane Society of Cambria County is:
- To provide
temporary care and shelter for stray and unwanted companion animals from Cambria County.
- To place as many of
these animals as possible into permanent, loving homes.
- To educate the public
on proper pet care.
- To promote
awareness of the importance of spaying/neutering.
The HSCC is run by the Executive Director with the help of
a part-time staff that includes an Office Manager, Kennel Attendants/Adoption
Counselors, and occasional part-time seasonal workers.
