TWAIN is a volunteer-staffed, non-profit 501(c)3 federally tax-exempt organization that rescues and places unwanted and abandoned animals. The orphans we receive are spayed or neutered (if old enough) and receive shots and all necessary medical care. They are then placed in foster homes - not a shelter - or are boarded at TWAIN's expense until they are adopted by animal lovers like you.

The intended purpose of our website is pet adoption inquiries, pet ownership education, and enlisting caring volunteers. All other inquiries, including finding homes for unwanted pets, should be directed to our email address at

We have cats of all sizes and colors. Please check out the rest of our animals available for adoption on Our Pet List .

TWAIN requires a completed application from all prospective adopters. Please print our adoption application and mail it to us. We will gladly respond to email messages to answer any questions you may have about our pets.

When describing the kind of pet you would like to adopt, try to think in terms of the animal's temperament, rather than color, sex, or age. Ask for a pet that will best fit you and your environment. Consider all aspects of your life.

For example,

  • Are you retired and quiet or busy and active?
  • Do you live alone?
  • Do you have a family with small children?
  • Do you have grandchildren that visit frequently?
  • Do you have a large property or limited living space, such as a small apartment?
  • Do you have any other pets in the house?

These are all factors that can affect your new pet's lifestyle. A thorough and accurate picture of your life will help us to find the right pet for you!

After we receive your application or phone call, one of our Adoption Coordinators will call to:

  • explain the adoption procedure and answer any questions you may have;
  • set up a home visit to meet you personally.

As a rule, our orphans make wonderful pets and adjust well to their new families. Pet ownership is rewarding and enjoyable, but being a pet owner is also an enormous responsibility. Please be sure that you are ready to take on that responsibility.

Good luck to all of our wonderful pets and their new families!!!
Thank you for your interest in TWAIN.

Unfortunately, we currently have a waiting list of those who want us to help find homes for their pets.

If you are interested in helping us care for homeless animals by fostering please email or call us. We are always looking for kind, loving and responsible people to help provide temporary homes for our little and not-so little ones.

Please note that TWAIN does not handle exotic animals such as groundhogs or exotic rodents.
