Kitty Cottage Adoption Center

317 West Johnson Highway
Norristown, PA 19401

Our Mission

Kitty Cottage Adoption Center is a non-profit, no-kill, cage-free cat shelter that opened its doors in 2002 and has since found home for over 3000 cats and kittens. We provide a safe, home-like environment where homeless felines can be connected with responsible potential adopters in the community. We do accept owner surrenders but we place an emphasis on rescuing cats from other local shelters without a no-kill policy and very young kittens, as we have a special foster network trained in their care and they often will not survive in a shelter environment.

All of our cats are

- spayed or neutered (if age appropriate)
- up to date on their rabies and distemper vaccines
- microchipped
- negative for FeLV/FIV
- given all necessary veterinary care during their time with us
- up for adoption!

Adoption Policy

Because Kitty Cottage is a no-kill, cage-free cat shelter, we believe our adoption process is something special. We create a home-like setting for our residents which allows us to get a good idea of how they will act at home and also how they feel about other furry "roommates." We place a particular emphasis on helping potential adopters find a cat that will fit with their lifestyle and preferences. And because we are no-kill, you never have the sales pressure that comes with thinking that if you don't pick a particular cat they may be in danger. We're all about finding the perfect match - for life!

Adoption Fees

Kittens (under 1 year) - $180.00

Adult Cats - $100

Senior Cats (8 and over) - $50

Adoption Procedure
Due to our unique set up as a cage-free shelter and our small space, our adoptions operate by appointment only. We have rewritten our adoption process and policies to adhere to our limited hours.

All prospective adopters will be asked to fill out an application which asks for references (including that of your existing or former veterinarian), information about the household and its residents, and questions about potential future life changes and your plan for how you would deal with those with your new feline companion. It also asks you to demonstrate in good faith that you have the lifestyle and financial stability required to guarantee one of our residents a safe, permanent home. You must be 25 years of age or older to apply for adoption (please contact us if you have questions).

All applications will be general and they will be processed in the order in which they are received. Once approved, you may schedule an appointment to come in and meet the adoptable cats or kittens.

We will do our best to keep our available cats or kittens up-to-date, but please feel free to call and inquire about the status of any specific cat or kitten BEFORE applying.`

If the Cottage does not have the right fit cat or kitten at the time of an applicant's visit, the applicant will be considered first when new cats or kittens are brought into the cottage. The application will be considered approved for 6 months.
