The organization is not a chapter of any other agency and does not have a parent organization. Relying on private donations and funds from the county dog licensing program, Curry County Animal Shelter shelters and re-homes abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs and cats, and provides humane education for the community about compassion and responsibility toward all animals.
Curry County Animal Shelter advocates and uses positive reinforcement training methods only.
Curry County Animal Shelter endeavors to be a no-kill shelter. Only animals too ill or severely injured will be considered for euthanization.
The adoption fee for a dog is $100. The adoption fee for a cat over 1 year old is $35; the adoption fee for kittens and cats under 1 year old is $50.
Your adoption fee includes many benefits. You receive an adoption goodie bag, including food, a toy, and coupons. All cats and dogs are up-to-date on all vaccinations, including rabies. All cats and dogs are spayed / neutered before adoption (animals too young or not ready for surgery may be adopted out with an additional deposit, refundable upon proof of spay / neuter). Dogs are microchipped. All animals receive a free wellness exam, generously provided by several of our local vets. In addition, you receive ongoing support and training advice to help ensure a smooth transition of your adopted dog or cat into your family.
The shelter is open everyday - including holidays - from 10am-4pm.
We are a 501c3 and donations may be eligible for a tax deductible receipt. (Tax ID: 26-3561170)
