Oregon, the Columbia Humane Society is a No-Kill non-profit shelter
dedicated to helping friends find each other since 1985.

until a new "forever home" can be found for each and every one. We also offer
micro-chipping, low cost pet-food, and private cremation services.
are a non-profit independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of
life for companion animals. We serve all of Columbia County - and other areas in
Oregon and Washington state as able. We are supported solely by shelter income,
our group fund-raising efforts, and donations from concerned people like you.
We are Committed to:
- Preventing cruelty to animals
- Promoting spaying and neutering
- Eliminating animal abuse and neglect
- Encouraging owners to accept responsibility for the welfare of their pets
- Increasing public awareness of the rising population of unwanted animals
All pets placed
for adoption are current on shots, spay/neuter and a free 14-day local vet visit

visitors, and encourage volunteers to assist us in the daily upkeep of our
facility. You can also help walk and socialize our dogs and pet our cats
who live in a "pod" environment allowed to climb and play
Donations and volunteer help is necessary in order for us to
continue our current programs and assist in other necessary
ways . . .
Your cash donations are needed to support
programs, to maintain the shelter, and pay for needed veterinary care.
Your time and talents are needed to socialize, walk, and train animals,
perform general office tasks, and help with fund raising, publicity, and/or
public education – to name just a few.

Spay and neuter education is another primary focus of CHS, and discount coupons
are available on our front counter or can be mailed to you directly.

we reduce the number being born each day...our job is far from complete.

follow US Hwy.30/Columbia River Highway, north, sign-posted to St. Helens.
Approximately 1 mile north of St. Helens, turn right at the traffic lights onto
Deer Island Road. You will cross railroad tracks next to a lumber yard.
Immediately after crossing the tracks, turn left onto Oregon Street.
follow US Hwy.30/Columbia River Highway, south towards St. Helens.
Go through Columbia City, past the mini mart/gas station which will be on your
right hand side. Half a mile on at the first traffic lights, turn onto Deer
Island Road and cross the railroad tracks. Immediately after crossing the
tracks, turn left onto Oregon Street.
We are located inside the Holsheimer-Lamar Animal Shelter.
Tuesday–Thursday Saturday and Sunday: 10:00am to 5:00pm
Closed Friday and Mondays
