*** Local Dog Rescue's dog profiles have been removed from PetFinder because they continue to post our dogs on Kijijji (a Petfinder partner) despite our request not to. Those interested in viewing the dogs for adoption can visit the website at http://www.localdogrescue.com/dogs.html
An application must be filled out before meeting a dog. The application form can be found here: http://www.localdogrescue.com/forms/adoptionapp/

*Local adoptions only (Thunder Bay District)
Local Dog Rescue is a volunteer-run all-breed rescue in Thunder Bay. For almost twenty years, LDR has been dedicated to providing shelter and care to unwanted dogs and sanctuary for senior and non-adoptable dogs. Most of them are medium to large breeds that were either stray, abandoned, surrendered, scheduled to be put down or saved from abusive or neglectful homes. Some are the more difficult dogs; the ones others won't take and have deemed "out of control". With the exception of a few in trusted foster homes, they all live here in a comfortable, cage-free home environment and are cared for indefinitely until permanent homes can be found. As an advocate for responsible pet ownership, every dog is spayed or neutered before being adopted to loving smoke free , indoor homes.
LDR is not a registered charity or non-profit organization. I'm just a guy with a love for animals doing what I can to help as many as I can. There is no funding, no paycheques, no overhead.... just a small group of people and many wonderful supporters, all with a passion for helping animals in need.
While every dog at LDR may be different in age, appearance and character, they all have one thing in common - the desire to be part of a loving family they can call their own! If you're ready to meet the dogs, grab some treats and come on in...
If you would like to meet any of the adoptable dogs, please get in touch via email to make arrangements.
