The Animal Rescue Krew (ARK) is a not-for-profit charity. We rely on adoption fees and the kindness of donors to help pay for the costs of rescuing, rehabilitating and neutering abandoned cats and kittens. If you'd like to make a donation to ARK, you can send us a cheque at the address below or make a donation online at CanadaHelps.org or through PayPal . We'll send you a tax receipt for your donation.
ARK does not have a shelter, so we are always looking for foster homes to look after our cats when they not at the Petsmart stores. We are also looking for homes for pregnant mother cats as well as mothers & kittens. All supplies are provided by ARK, including food, litter, etc. If you would like to volunteer, please call us at 705-651-0069 or email email@example.com
ARK is a non-profit animal welfare organization begun by Marie Hunt in 1999. The organization is active in the Lakefield, Peterborough, Whitby and Toronto areas. The goal of ARK is to place cats and kittens in permanent homes, and to aid stray and abandoned cats. ARK also works with several municipal shelters to increase exposure and find homes for these rescue cats.
ARK is not a shelter. All cats and kittens are placed in volunteer foster homes until they are ready for adoption. During this time, animals are socialized, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Adoptions are done locally through word of mouth and additionally by participating in the Petsmart "Luv a Pet" Adoption Centres at the Whiby stores, as well as several Pet Valu, Paulmacs Pets and Global Pet Foods stores. Each year ARK finds homes for over 1,000 cats and kittens.
Hill'sŪ Science DietŪ "Second Chance for Love" shelter program has partnered with us and is donating pet food for all cats and kittens being cared for. ARK is exclusively feeding Hill'sŪ Science DietŪ to all of the cats and kittens in our care.
The adoption fee is $100. All ARK kittens and cats are vaccinated as appropriate for their age. All cats 6 months of age or older are spayed/neutered prior to adoption while kittens under 6 months come with a $50 spay/neuter voucher. Please note that ARK does not permit our cats or kittens to be declawed.
Please note that just a few of the animals we have in our care are mentioned on this website. We have many other animals available for adoption. If you are looking for a furry friend of a specific colour, gender etc., please do not hesitate to call.
If for some reason you cannot adopt a pet at this time, please consider making a tax-deductible donation. All monies donated go directly to the animals to help cover the cost of food, litter and vet bills.
Our cats and kittens can be seen at the Petsmart stores in Whitby, at several Pet Valu, Paulmacs Pets and Global Pet Foods stores and at the ARK Thrift Store located at 3307 Lakefield Road. If you are interested in adopting a pet or to find out more information about the pets available, please contact Marie Hunt at 705-651-0069.
