ORA — Organization for the Rescue of Animals —
is a registered Canadian charity completely run by volunteers. ORA operates
in and around the Greater Toronto Area, working for the well-being and
protection of all our fellow animals. While we are devoted to protect the rights and interests of any animal species,
we have found ourselves largely involved with the rescue of cats.
We think that all cats should be neutered and
spayed because there aren’t enough homes for the cats that fill our
city’s rescues and shelters now. ORA’s activities include rescuing stray
and feral cats and taking in cats surrendered by their owners. Cats we
rescue are vaccinated, spayed or neutered and de-wormed as needed. They
receive any other necessary veterinary care and then are placed in a foster
home (if a suitable adoptive home is not readily available).
We may have other cats for adoption that aren’t listed
here. If you wish to adopt e-mail
us or phone 416-726-5762. We will be delighted to hear from you.
YOU HELP THE CATS BY BECOMING A “FOSTER PARENT”?
Like most rescues, we do not have paid staff and we do not have a shelter. Any cats that
we rescue — stray, feral or abandoned — must be kept in a foster
home. We would be unable to rescue most cats if we had to wait for
a suitable adoptive home. All rescued cats are boarded at a previously
screened home until we can find a permanent adoptive home. The foster
home should provide a tranquil environment for the cats and be able to
give them the necessary care, attention and emotional support. The cat you foster doesn't necessarily need access to your entire home; sometimes a spare room or small bathroom is sufficient, depending on the cat. If you
will help us to help them, we can save more cats from unhappy fates. Talk to us, and we'll find a foster cat that will fit your circumstances and lifestyle.
