The Best Way To View Our Adoptable and Lost/Stray Animals

PetHarbor.com (www.petharbor.com) is a real time listing of animals in our shelter which is updated hourly. Just type in "Tulsa" or your zip code for a search and check the City of Tulsa Animal Welfare shelter list box..

Please note: Petfinder has only adoptables and it will not always reflect all possible animals for adoption.

PetHarbor has some great features. For example, if someone has an interest in adopting certain breeds like Cockers or Labs etc. from us, with Pet Harbor.com you now have the option to also select breeds you'd like to watch for. To find it look under "Register your Breed Interest" on the left side of the ADOPTABLE PETS page.

We encourage everyone to use that feature and it will automatically send them email updates on breeds of interest. Our TAW page on PetHarbor even gives you and option to sent it to a friend.

Cats, dogs, puppies and kittens can be adopted for $75. This fee includes the cost of spaying or neutering, testing, shots and a 1-year city license.

Tulsa Animal Welfare Adoption Specials.

We are an open admission shelter and accept all animals from within the City of Tulsa limits. Stray dogs and cats are held a minimum of 3 working days and then are released to rescue, placed in our adoption program or euthanized. An owner giveaway is either immediately placed in our adoption program, released to a rescue group or euthanized.

Can You Spot an Abused Animal?

Recognizing cruelty is simple, right? Not quite, say ASPCA experts. Obvious behaviors such as aggression, timidity and fear don’t always tell the whole story. Animals may appear to be timid or frightened for many reasons other than abuse. For more info on how to address animal cruelty nationally and locally visit these sites http://www.aspca.org/fight-animal-cruelty/how-to-recognize-cruelty.html or visit Tulsa Animal Welfare's homepage http://www.cityoftulsa.org/CityServices/Animal/Abuse.asp .

Responsible Pet Guardianship

Spaying and neutering are procedures that improve both pet health and behavior. They also save taxpayer dollars, with less money dedicated to the euthanasia of unwanted animals. Animal Shelters in Tulsa and across the United States are overcrowded with homeless unwanted animals. Each day about 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in our country. Millions of healthy cats and dogs face early deaths as a form of animal control while others are left to fend for themselves. Spaying or neutering animals to prevent unwanted offspring can help save millions of animals from starvation, neglect and euthanasia.

Pet owners can call Spay Oklahoma at 728-3144 to make an appointment. The facility is located at 501 E. 36th St. North.

The Humane Society of Tulsa also provides low-cost spay/neuter services. To schedule an appointment with the Humane Society of Tulsa, call 250-3647.

It is a violation to own or be in possession of an unsterilized dog or cat over six months of age within the city limits of Tulsa. Every person violating this subparagraph 101A17 of Title 2, TRO, shall be guilty of an offinse and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00), excluding costs, fees and assessments.
