Our Adoptable Pet List

Meet Our Featured Pet: Bette Davis

Bette is a five-year-old, female, Tortoiseshell/Domestic Short Hair mix. She weighs 11 lbs. Bette came into the rescue over a year ago with her 5-week-old kitten. Her kitten has long since found her forever home, and it is definitely Bette's turn. Once she feels comfortable with you, Bette likes to be cuddled and to be held. She loves to sit next to her foster mom while she watches t.v. or reads a book. Bette gets along well with other cats. She has been spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped. We would love to help Bette find her forever home. To learn more about Bette Davis, check out her bio at http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/23133195

Who We Are

Little Love Bugs Rescue was founded by a group of friends with a commitment to saving the lives of animals. Little Love Bugs Rescue is a small, all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit, animal rescue group. All of our rescued animals are in foster homes being loved, nurtured, and evaluated by volunteers. We do not have a shelter.

Adoption Policies

The first step of the adoption process is the adoption application form. If you are interested in adopting one of our rescued pets, please email us at lovebugsrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application. Once your application is completed, please be patient. The application is processed by one of our volunteers who will contact you to talk more about the pet you are interested in adopting and to make sure that the pet and your family are a good fit. The volunteer will check with your veterinarian to make sure that all of your pets are/were up-to-date on their vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heartworm prevention. We then set up a meet and greet. Please only apply to adopt one of our rescued pets if you are willing and able to make a lifelong commitment to that pet. We give the highest quality of care to all of our fosters, and we have adoption requirements in place to make sure that all of our dogs and cats go to loving homes. We work very closely to match you with the right new family member. All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Dogs are heartworm tested and cats are tested for FIV/FeLV. Adoption fees are non-refundable. We also require that you are at least 21-years-old to adopt.

We welcome volunteers. The more volunteers we have, the more animals we can help. We could use your help at adoption events, transporting foster pets, planning events, fundraising, processing adoption applications, and we are also looking for more foster homes. Fosters play the most crucial role in our rescue group. Fosters are provided everything that they need for their foster pet: pet food, a crate, toys, treats, and vet care. Fosters supply the training, nurturing, love, and care. If you are interested in volunteering with our group, please email us at lovebugsrescue@gmail.com. We would love to have your help.

All of our rescued pets are now microchipped, dogs and cats alike. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice. The microchip is implanted between the shoulder blades under the skin. The process is similar to getting a shot. Once in place, the microchip can be detected immediately with a handheld device that uses radio waves to read the chip. This device scans the microchip, and then displays a unique alphanumeric code. Microchips are not tracking systems. Microchips are only effective when someone uses a scanner to read the microchip information. The microchip number has to be phoned into a central call center to locate the current owner of the pet. A microchipped pet can be easily identified if found by a shelter or veterinary office in possession of a scanner. Remember, no single method of identification is perfect. The best thing you can do to protect your pet is to be a responsible owner. Keep current identification tags on your pet at all times, consider microchipping as reinforcement, and never allow your pet to roam free. If your pet does become lost, more identification can increase the odds of finding your beloved companion.
