Our Featured Pet...
Jethro and Daisy are Great Pyrenees have just come to ThirdTyme Rescue in cooperation with the Humane Society of Morrow County. They are emaciated and have lost most of their fur to mange. They are so sweet even after being treated so poorly. Daisy was 8 months old and weighed 34 pounds when we took her in. She is now home from the hospital after being treated for PARVO. She is really into eating and sleeping. Sleeping makes her next meal come more quickly!! She is recovering nicely and we have an appointment for her on Monday Feb 1st with an orthopedic surgeon at Medvet in Columbus Ohio ***
Slide show of Daisy and Jethro!
We get many of our rescued Corgis and Bernese Mt Dogs and others away from becoming just more "breeding stock" in those horrible Ohio Amish puppy mills, living 24 hrs a day in a cage, just breeding for the money. (These puppy mills advertise heavily in newspapers and signs by the side of the road, on the internet, and sell to pet stores like the horrific Petland. )
** NEVER EVER BUY A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE !! **
For pictures and more information on Bernese Mt Dogs, to see if they are right for you, PLEASE GO TO .... http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/bernesemountaindogs.html
---- OR GO TO: www.BMDINFO.org ~~~ For info on the Welsh Corgi, please go to www.pwcca.org ************** FRIGHTENING FACTS: There are 45 cats and dogs for every person born. Only 1 out of 10 dogs born
ever get a home. Only 1 out of 12 cats born ever find a home. 800 dogs &
cats are KILLED each HOUR in the U.S, because there are not enough homes for
them!! Opt to adopt. Don't buy from a pet store!
Who We Are
ThirdTyme Rescue is a 501c3 animal rescue organization. We are a small group of volunteers who simply care about dogs. My husband and I have been active for many years in dog training for AKC obedience competition, agility trials, and pet problem solving (behavior modification.)
We take in just a few dogs at a time to help and give them intense personal attention/training/evaluation. We rescue dogs who really have no where else to go, such as from local high kill rural pounds or adults from puppy mills.
The foster dog then lives IN OUR HOME (not in a kennel !!) as one of our own canine family members -- this living situation best prepares the dog for living in YOUR home, as YOUR family member. We feel a very strong sense of responsiblity to the dog for the rest of his/her life and will always remain available to our adoptive homes as a resource for advice on training, behavior problems, nutrition, medical issues, etc. We teach our fosters basic obedience TRAINING: housetraining, walk on leash, sit, down, come, stay. Of course all our foster dogs are first vet checked and healthy, fully vaccinated, spay/neutered, microchipped, clear of heartworms or any stool parasites, and on routine preventative meds.
The "Third Time" really IS the charm for one of these dogs: his first home didn't want him, we are his second home, and YOUR loving home is his third and forever home!
Adopting a friend
Please just email (or call) and we would be happy to chat w/ you about the dog who interests you, to see if he/she seems like a good match. We will email (or snail mail) you an adoption application. Then you can come visit. We will check references, including a vet reference, and do a home visit in most cases. We feel great affection for every one of our fosters, and put a great deal of time and effort into training/evaluating each individual dog. ~ We will only consider potental homes where the dog will be a treasured family companion living inside the home, and where there is a securely fenced yard for the dog's safety. ~ Thinking of only an "invisible" electronic fencing system? Think again. Read this...... scary!
