Hildy is a delightful, sweet and very loyal girl looking for a companion. She has a soft disposition and loves to be right at your side. Hildy was found in an abandoned house with two other dogs where she was left to fend for herself. When she was found, her heart was broken and her stomach empty. She is still very thin and her foster mom is slowly trying to put weight on her. After she was found, she was taken to the shelter where they reached out to AHDRO and raved about what a great girl she was-and so, we pulled her to give her a second chance at a better life.
Hildy is a quiet dog who in general-does not bark, but will bark to let you know if someone or if another dog is in your yard. She has great manners and knows how to “sit” walks nicely on a leash (unless she see’s a tempting squirrel or chipmunk). She also rides in the car well and enjoys going for little car–rides. She has also successfully completed obedience training.
Hildy loves the outdoors! She loves to go for walks with her foster, hikes in the woods and any other outdoor adventure-even a cool dip in the water! But also enjoys laying quietly in the backyard watching for squirrels-and would probably do so for hours if you let her. Inside the house; Hildy is potty trained, is quiet in her crate and will sleep soundly on a soft bed beside yours at night. She will show you love with her unwavering loyalty, some kisses and a wagging tail.
Hildy is looking for a home with a loving family who will spend time with her and show her the love she deserves so that she can feel confident and safe that she will not be abandoned again.

Who We Are
Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio, Inc. (AHDRO) , was formed in December of 2003. AHDRO's mission is to provide homeless collies and other "family friendly" dogs a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition and love until an approved home is found; to reduce the number of unwanted pets by altering all dogs in our rehoming program; to educate the public about the importance of altering pets, and to explain that owning a pet is a lifelong commitment.
All AHDRO dogs are placed in the homes of approved volunteers until they are apdopted into homes that have been carefully screened for placement. Each dog is examined by a veterinarian upon arrival, and necessary treatment is administered, or a treatment plan is put into place.
Since it's inception, AHDRO has rescued over 115 dogs from as far away as Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee and Illinois. AHDRO works hand in hand with animal shelters to save dogs slated for euthanasia, and those dogs are our priority. Our dogs also come from owners who are no longer able to care for their pet due to illness and other circumstances. They are rescued from situations ranging from the lack of care, supervision, starvation and abuse.
Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is run entirely by volunteers. AHDRO receives no government support and operates with funds generated by adoption donations, fundraisers and generous donations from concerned animal lovers. Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a registered
non-profit corporation and donations made to AHDRO may be tax deductible.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please contact email@example.com Charlene will send you an adoption application to complete. Or go directly to almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is returned, Charlene can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if you are a good candidate for one of our dogs. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match.
