Tucker had been bounced around a lot from home to home and when he came to AHDRO we found that he was really struggling with anxiety issues. We are happy to report that he is doing much better after many months spent with a committed foster who worked diligently to help him deal with his anxieties!
Tucker is a very active, intelligent boy. It is very helpful for him to get LOTS of exercise and LOTS of interaction. He is inquisitive, curious, and playful. His curiosity leads him to explore everything and he will get himself into trouble if not supervised! Tucker loves to run and play with other dogs and will definitely need a home with other dogs to play with and to learn from. After running laps around the yard, when he is finally tired out, he will give soft kisses and will fall asleep with his head in your lap. Tucker loves to be loved! He wants to be with people all the time and will melt into you for loving, cuddling, and snuggling.
Tucker is excited to meet new people and is friendly with everyone – big and small, young and old. He takes treats gently, can’t wait to go for his walks, and is well behaved in the car. He is intelligent and very eager to please and would excel in obedience classes. Tucker is crate trained and will settle down in his crate with a Kong toy, but given his history of separation anxiety, he shouldn’t be left alone for long periods. Tucker needs someone who is home most of the time and who can take him along with them, or to doggie day care, when they need to be away for long periods.
Tucker needs an experienced owner and a consistent schedule, predictable routines, activities and games that keep his mind busy, short training sessions each day and very calm, consistent guidance. He needs a physically fenced yard and needs to live with other active dogs.

Who We Are
Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio, Inc. (AHDRO) , was formed in December of 2003. AHDRO's mission is to provide homeless collies and other "family friendly" dogs a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition and love until an approved home is found; to reduce the number of unwanted pets by altering all dogs in our rehoming program; to educate the public about the importance of altering pets, and to explain that owning a pet is a lifelong commitment.
All AHDRO dogs are placed in the homes of approved volunteers until they are apdopted into homes that have been carefully screened for placement. Each dog is examined by a veterinarian upon arrival, and necessary treatment is administered, or a treatment plan is put into place.
Since it's inception, AHDRO has rescued over 115 dogs from as far away as Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee and Illinois. AHDRO works hand in hand with animal shelters to save dogs slated for euthanasia, and those dogs are our priority. Our dogs also come from owners who are no longer able to care for their pet due to illness and other circumstances. They are rescued from situations ranging from the lack of care, supervision, starvation and abuse.
Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is run entirely by volunteers. AHDRO receives no government support and operates with funds generated by adoption donations, fundraisers and generous donations from concerned animal lovers. Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a registered
non-profit corporation and donations made to AHDRO may be tax deductible.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please contact email@example.com Charlene will send you an adoption application to complete. Or go directly to almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is returned, Charlene can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if you are a good candidate for one of our dogs. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match.
