Adopting A Friend

All adoptions begin with an inquiry:-)  We are more than happy to discuss the animal you are interested in to help you decide if it will be the right fit.  We do require a vet reference, a signed contract ensuring appropriate care and a $150 adoption fee.  If you do not have a vet, we require that you find one before you adopt with us.  A home visit may be a requirement for certain dogs with special needs.

Who We Are

Founded in 2002, Avalon Animal Rescue is a small, private, non-profit 501(c)(3), multi-county network of volunteers who believe that every dog deserves a safe, warm and loving environment.  Our rescues are put into short-term foster care while a permanent home is sought.  We avidly support and collaborate with other rescue organizations to ensure the best possible chance in finding appropriate "forever homes".  We have many helpers in our support team.  Special Thanks to Milliron Clinic and Hocking Correctional Facility, both staff and inmates, for all that they do.  Thanks also to all the wonderful people who have the compassion to help a dog in need!

Come Visit Us

Avalon does not have a "shelter", per se, but we rely solely on volunteer foster homes.    Any dog who has the notation of being fostered in the Cell Dog Program can be visited,  by appt ONLY, by contacting Anne Richardson via email at anne.richardson@odrc.state.oh.us.  Any dogs in private foster care can be seen by contacting the individual noted in the bio.
