About Us

Remember to check out our Bingo Fundraiser every Monday night at the Society for the Handicapped, Inc. building on Independence Drive in Napoleon. Doors open at 5:00PM and the games starts at 7:00PM. Come join the fun!! We can always use volunteers to help with Monday night Bingo...if you are interested, please contact the shelter at 419-592-3777. We'd love to have you join in the fun!  Click here for the Humane Society's bingo website:

Bingo proceeds alone cannot support the operations of the shelter and other programs.  If you have an idea you think could benefit the shelter, please let us know! Send your creative fundraising ideas to us in an email to staff@henryhumane.org. Please join us, help raise much needed funds and make some new friends along the way.

Being a responsible pet owner helps to control the pet overpopulation problem. The shelter has received a grant from the Cesar Millan Foundation and STILL has funds available to help with the costs of altering your dog. Please contact the shelter at 419-592-3777 for more information on this money saving grant!

If you are seeking to add a new friend to your life, please remember to check your local shelter first. There are many wonderful animals waiting at the shelter for their forever homes.

Please visit our pet list often - there are always many loving souls waiting to say "there's no place like home."

Adopting A Friend

Our animals are tested, vaccinated, spayed/neutered and mircochipped before they go home and all is included in the adoption fee!

Anyone interested in adopting a pet from HCHS must fill out an Adoption Questionnaire. The Adoption Specialists then interview the potential adopter. During the 24 hour waiting period, a background check is completed and a dog is checked for Heartworm and/or a cat is checked for feline leukemia. The Animal Care Technicians and the Adoption Specialists make sure that the best possible match between potential owner and pet is accomplished.

Adoption fees include the cost to spay or neuter the animal. Dogs receive a heartworm check, DHPP vaccination (includes distempter, hepatitis, parvo & parainfluenze), physical at local veterinarian office, microchip and current dog license.

All dogs that will remain in Ohio are required to have a current dog license when leaving the shelter and this cost is included in the adoption fee.

In addition to being spayed or neutered, cats also receive a feline leukemia check and FVRC vaccination (includes distemper, rhinotracheitis & calicivirus), and a physical by a local vet.
