With Spring comes the beginning of our fundraising season. We need volunteers to help organize items donated for our annual yardsale. Please contact us if you would like to help. http://www.newstartkittyrescue.org/
We are always grateful for donations of money, food, cat litter and supplies. Money donations are used for vet visits, spay/neuter, and cat food. All of us volunteer our homes and our time to the cats in our care. We can also use helping hands for the daily chores of cleaning and feeding. If that's not for you, we need people to come and just socialize with the cats to get them used to being with people.
We try to feed Purina brands of cat food as much as possible. If we receive donations of other brands, we mix foods together. We no longer collect weight circles from purina foods because they don't allow tax exempt shelters to participate in redeeming them for coupons. We are still in the organizing stages, but we will be seeking members to help us with fund raising projects to raise money for spay/neuter, veterinary care, vaccinations and medications. These are just some of the ways you can help us help cats.
Our Wish List
DRY AND CANNED FOOD
All adult cats and kittens are spayed or neutered if they are old enough. New York State requires that we collect a $35 deposit from adopter's of unspayed/unneutered cats. We hold this deposit to be returned once we receive proof of spay/neuter.
There are no set adoption fees for our spayed/neutered kitties, but we appreciate donations in any amount for adoptions.
There are so many cats and kittens needing homes in our community and surrounding communities, we wanted to help. We started by taking a dozen or so cats and kittens to foster from a local shelter. We brought them to our homes to give them a new start. Now we have almost a hundred cats and kittens.
On August 29, 2010 we have received our confirmation letter that we are now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization back dated to January 20, 2010 the date of our application. This means that anyone who donated money or goods after January 20th can use their donation as an exemption on their income taxes for 2010..
Now we can seek grants to supplement fundraising activities to vet, vaccinate and shelter cats needing homes. The only way to stop the over population of cats is to stop the breeding. We will also seek funding for low cost spay/neuter clinics toward that goal.
Most important, we want to find forever homes for the cats in our care.
We are located at 6342 and 6348 Denton Corners Road, Castile NY 14427. Hours are generally by appointment so it's best to call ahead.
