About Us

My name is Susan and I am the Director of Blissful Strays a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician and have been rescuing animals for as long as I can remember. My mother was the local dog warden when I was a child and I was able to experience how special homeless pets are as we often fostered them. Through years of hard work and dedication, I am finally able to open the doors to a small, private, non-profit rescue where I am able to house and care for homeless and injured animals and find them their forever homes. I also have given a permanent home to some cats with terminal illnesses such as Feline AIDS, Leukemia and cancer. At Blissful Strays they will live out the remainder of their shortened life NEVER having to worry about needing a warm bed, food or love again!

Our Felines

Each cat/ kitten is deparasitized, examined, will have age appropriate indoor cat vaccines, FIV, FeLV test ( do not let anyone tell you it is acceptable to "batch" test kittens or only test the mother- this is NOT an accurate way to test the status of a cat you will be introducing into YOUR home!) All animals in my care receive the excellent veterinary medical care they deserve, whether medical or surgical, and all adoptive homes need to be able to continue to do the same. Veterinary references are required. *Visits are by SCHEDULED Appointment Only*

Adopting a friend

One of my many goals in animal welfare is to educate the public on the amazing human-animal bond. We all know the statistics that a cat can reduce your stress levels and therefore your risk of heart attack, but did you know that by adopting you are allowing theses fabulous felines to live a longer healthier life too? A cat on the street has a life span of up to 5 years. Some of this life is battling starvation and disease. A cat in a shelter type situation is at higher risk for disease and infection due to the numerous new cats being added regularly. They are at higher risk for medical conditions caused by increased stress levels caused from constant change to their environment. You can add about 10-15 healthy years to a furry, friendly felines life just by providing a loving home and proper preventative veterinary care. Ahhh, there is nothing like having a purring ball of fur cuddle up with you after a long day at work!!
