Adirondack Save-A-Stray

Our Pet List

Who We Are

Adirondack Save-A-Stray is a non for profit, 501c, no kill shelter. We have been rescuing and saving lives for over 25 years. We survive on the kindness of others and contributions to keep our doors open and help us continue the work we do. Many of the animals come from high kill shelters that still use the gas chamber and lethal injection. We receive no state, federal or local funding so donations and fund raising events make up 100% of our income. Adirondack Save-A-Stray takes in stray, abandoned, abused and unwanted animals, as well as rescuing animals from around the country and surrounding areas. We always try to give back back, whether it be through out pet food bank, low cost veterinary clinic, pet referral website, community education, adoptions and much, much more. The lives we save and the people we help are directly impacted by our efforts. What is it that keeps us going? Our love for animals, the response from happy adopters, pictures, smiles and your support that pours into the shelter everyday.

Adopting a Friend

We currently house over 100 cats, several adult dogs and many, many litters of puppies for you to adopt as your new friend and family member. Our goal is to find forever homes and make happy unions. We strive to place the right pet with the best home possible. Please consider the long-term commitment and responsibility that is involved before adopting. With each adoption, you receive shots, wormings, a coupon towards the spay or neuter, first month of heartworm preventative or one month of flea and tick control, a DVD on training valued at $30.00, an herbal bath and free gifts for your new pet.

Requirements for adoption: You must be 21 years of age or older. Homeowners are preferred but we do adopt out to renters if they provide a lease showing pets are allowed and contact information for your landlord. All animals adopted must live inside the home. People who want an outdoor animal, that will live in a dog house or roam the streets, need not apply.

Volunteering and Donations

Adirondack Save-A-Stray is an entirely volunteer animal organization, Volunteers are always welcome. We need all the help that we can get with volunteers as well as monetary donations, food and litter for the pets we care for at our shelter. We survive solely on donations and the kindness of others. Again we want to inform you that we receive no federal, state, or local funding. Your contributions through Pay Pal go directly to saving lives at the shelter. We realize these are hard economic times, but during hard times its' the animals who suffer. We cannot forget the most helpless of family members, our companion animals. Adirondack Save-A-Stray is a wonderful non-kill animal shelter. All you have to do is look into an animals eyes and know they want to live. We are their SECOND LEASE ON LIFE!

Adirondack Save-A-Stray sells various rescue, car magnets and pet guardian angel pendants for a small donation.
