Finger Lakes Dog Protection Agency

Our Pet List

Who We Are:

Carl Collier is the Dog Control Officer and runs a shelter serving 14 towns and villages in Cayuga County including The City of Auburn and the Town of Elbridge in Onondaga County in Central New York State. He is also the county's rabies guy and occasionally rescues wildlife. His wife, daughters, nephew, and long time employee Tom help run the show.

Adopting a friend:

How It Works:

  1. You see a dog you like. Email us at and request an adoption application. If your application is approved and we feel it's a good match, we set up an appointment for you to come and meet the dog. Don't be afraid to email a couple times if we don't get right back to you!
  2. We allow a 24 hour "think it over" period, or you can usually take the dog home at the time you meet it. There is no rush and no pressure. We want to make sure the match is the best it can be so you are happy and the dog doesn't have to come back to us. But, we will most certainly accept the pooch back if he/she doesn't work out! We love them too :)
