This is a different kind of plea. It's one that just might save our Rescue as an organization. Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue is a not-for-profit rescue and shelter that faces closing. Right now, we are looking for a donation of farm land in New York State to relocate the rescue out of Schoharie County. We are hoping for land zoned for agricultural use with a small house and barn(s). Please contact us if you can help in any way.

Wellness grain free dog food Core is desperately needed. We can really use donations of dog and cat food, WalMart gift cards, hay, grain and of course, money. Please donate what you can by sending it to: FFPR, Inc., 6930 State Route 10, Sharon Springs, NY 13459. Via PayPal: Your much appreciated donation is tax deductible. Thank you for your help.

Here are some of our newest arrivals.

Connie and Rupert came from a kill shelter in Texas. They love each other. Connie is a 2 year old Corgi/Chihuahua mix and would like to stay with Rupert, an 8 month old Chihuahau/Beagle mix. He is as sweet as can be.

Sweetie Pie is a Chug from Texas. One very smart girl who found her home in Upstate New York

Spanky will be coming soon from Texas.

Bravo! Bravo is the little flea bitten Pekingese from a kill shelter. His skin is healed and so is his heart.

We love Tuffy, a Shih Tzu who is looking for an adult-only home. You'd love Tuffy, too.

Rest in peace sweet Penny, who passed away after 12 years on the rescue farm.

Many thanks to Dawn's Dawgs in Dolgeville for their fine grooming services. Please Like them on Facebook.

Boop boop a doop, meet Betty Boop. Betty is a 7 and a half year old standard-bred mare who was used as an Amish work horse until the heavy work load injured her hind legs. She came to us with a 2 year old auction tag stuck to her hind end. This is one very sweet mare who was really underweight but is now filling out nicely thanks to regular meals and lots of TLC. She is on the road to recovery.

Sandie is one of the newest arrivals at the rescue farm. She was set to go auction where old girls get sent to slaughter. Sandie is 20 years old and as gentle as a lamb. She is slowly being cleaned up and we hope to find her a home as a companion for some other poor soul.

Save money on spaying and neutering! Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue now has a spay/neuter package for cats that's just $55! It's almost $200 at most veterinarians. Please contact us today for more information.

This guy's Timid. That's his name, shyness is his game. He's a 2 year old male who warms up quickly.

The herd enjoying grazing on the farm.

A family of donkeys live safely on the farm.

Big Mollie is a sweet young dog who was abused and left in a cold metal box, like yesterday's trash. She is at our rescue farm and we are working hard to teach her trust and love. Won't you please donate to help us help her and others like her?

Rest in peace Max. This beautiful guy might have been happy in your home -- but he was always loved here. He came to us when his owner died and stayed with us for 3 years until he passed away from heart disease and cancer. He had a family with us.

Danny The spotted donkey

Willie the rooster left at the barn, looking for a home where he will be safe

Thelma and Louise

Meet Andy! Andy came from Georgia. He had to have both of his eyes removed because his owners neglected massive eye infections.

But don't feel sorry for him. Andy plays and can fetch a ball and find you any where you are. He has mastered going in and out on his own and has so much love to share. He is a hugger and cuddler. Andy will need sponsors to help with his care as he grows older.

Our History:
Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue, Inc. seeks to rescue, shelter, and find new forever homes for abused, abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals from the community and from kill shelters around the country. Our mandate is to help all those who cannot help themselves. We live in a rural farm community with no animal cruelty investigators. We are often called upon to assist sick or injured animals left along the road. Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue has been a 501 (c) 3 not for profit rescue since 2001.

We are no longer adopting out the rescued horses -- we are still a rescue but now a sanctuary only. There are too many horses are out there looking for safe havens and we are just that.

We could really use a simple donation of a WalMart Gift Card. That way, we could buy cat and dog food. We just never have enough canned food and with dogs and cats of all ages, they have different dietary needs. A Gift Card would help our animals a great deal.

Excuse me! We don't donkey around!

Our Animals:
Currently, we shelter 21 dogs, 18 cats, 12 horses, 1 pony, 8 donkeys, 2 goats, 3 pigs, 3 mules and a duck! We have a barn where the horses, donkeys and three pigs live. The dogs live in a garage which has been converted into a heated kennel with running water. Most of the dogs have had their own Kuranda beds donated over time. The cats also have a heated room attached to the house. Our organization is of course “no-kill.”

These last few years have me extremely toughest for rescues. Because of the economic hard times more animals (dogs, cats and even horses) are being given up, abandoned and neglected than ever before.

We've had a dramatic increase in the number of animals taken in and a decrease in the number of homes looking to take in a new pet. Food donation programs and grants to rescue are also on the decline, making it that much more difficult for rescues to keep their doors open.

4 buddies from the same family!

We sing, too! "I'm walkin' Yes indeed I'm talkin'..."

Here's a great food that our rescue animals would love to eat. Please consider a donation of this great brand.

Your Help is Desperately Needed!

We accept PayPal, cash or check donations and our other big need right now is hay. Our animals use over 100 bales of hay every week and our dwindling supply will NOT get us through the months ahead. Please help any way you can.

We want to send a special thank you out to Bug Country Radio for their support and compassion for our homeless animals. Tune in to BUG Country 99.7 & 101.1FM and listen to your favorite country songs.

Bandit, Gracie and Angel.

We found these (a total of 6) when they were kittens, running through the parking lot at WalMart. Though we're not a cat rescue, we took them in, since we value the lives of all animals. All 6 are available for adoption.

A statement from Forgotten Friend’s President Joyce Urban:

I am an animal rights person who has been involved with helping animals all my life. I can always find the best part of an animal. I let them show me who they are and work with what they give me. I will stay up for days with a sick, injured or frightened animal to care for it. Shelters often ask me to take the fear biters or the food-aggressive dogs because I can be the alpha pack leader. One of our vets once told me that I spooked him because I could go in with a panicked horse and it would calm right down and the same with a growling dog.

I started rescuing horses after I was called one day about some donkeys being starved near the NJ/NY border. I went there and there were 45 donkeys all in various stages of malnutrition. I got the owner to sign them over to me and found all but 2 homes. I got very attached to them and the 2 are still with me. This opened my eyes to the needs of horses and donkeys, as well as slaughter houses, auctions houses and feed lots.

We are in need of Frontline Plus for all size dogs. We have many little dogs under 15 pounds, larger ones over 50 pounds and a few in between. If you can help, you can send a donation of Frontline Plus to the address at the top of this page. Thank you!

Penny the pony

We take many special needs animals like Jonesy. This gorgeous Arabian boy was born in Indiana (his full name is Indiana Jonesy) with underdeveloped eyes and he cannot see. He needs special training and handling so he can lead a happy productive life. He will require a great deal of care. We have set up a special fund for his needs. We believe that all animals are special and some just need a little more care than others. He arrived at our rescue on Saturday, June 14th, 2008.

Please click on the PayPal button and make a donation for "Jonesy" and become a "Jonesy Angel."

Snow (Yes, I DO own the place!)

In Memory of Misty. This is what we're all about. Please read her story.

Misty was a special needs dog who had no bottom jaw. She could eat only pureed food. Some sort of horrible injury to her jaw caused the bone to be eaten away by a massive infection is what the vet told us. Found as a stray in the Bronx, NY, she had a litter of puppies which she cared for like no other mother dog with a full jaw could do. She kept them clean and warm while she was starving. She was a loving and courageous girl who was with us until she passed away in June 2010. We miss Misty a great deal.

Please help us help others like Misty by sending a tax deductible donation to:

Who We Are

Forgotten Friends Pet Rescue is a not-for-profit 501(C)3 rescue organization which takes in animals that would otherwise lose their lives. We take many special needs animals that others turn away from.

Adopting a Friend

Adopting a pet from us is easy! We just require a vet reference, home check and an adoption fee.

Volunteering and Donations

We also welcome donations of towels, throw rugs & cleaning supplies. We are in great need of a good running new or used pick up or van. We need volunteers, too. You can give so much to a homeless animal by just spending a little time with them.
