The Delaware Valley Humane Society is a small, non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of homeless animals. Our mission is to provide food, shelter and medical care to unwanted cats and dogs and to find loving homes for them. Many of our pets are found abandoned, on our doorstep, or loose roaming the streets. Others are given up by their owners who no longer want them or are unable to care for them. Some are even rescued from inadequate living conditions and brought to our shelter to receive proper care.
Adopting a Friend
Shelter hours are: Monday-Saturday, 11:00-4:00, no adoptions after 3:30. Closed Sundays and Holidays.
All of our pets that are up for adoption are up to date on current vaccinations and de-worming. Some are already spayed or neutered. All cats are Feline Leukemia tested negative.
Adopting Process and Fees
The first step in adopting an animal from the DVHS is to fill out an application. This includes providing two personal references (not relatives), permission from a landlord to have pets (where applicable) and a veterinary reference if you currently own pets. Once the application has been approved you may adopt any pet of your choosing!
Dogs and puppies that are spayed or neutered require a $75.00 donations as as well as a Dog License fee of $6.00. Dogs and puppies who are unaltered require a $40.00 donation and a Dog License fee of $15.00. In addition, there is a $35.00 Spay and Neuter Deposit required in compliance with the Animal Population Control Program. This amount is refundable by mail if the dog is altered within one month of being adopted or by the time it reaches six months of age.
All cats and kittens that are unspayed/unneutered, require a $35.00 donation. If the cat or kitten is unaltered, they require a $35.00 Spay and Neuter Deposit in compliance with the Animal Population Control Program. This amount is refundable by mail if the cat is altered within one month of being adopted or by the time it reaches six months of age. If the cat you would like to adopt is spayed or neutered, then the adoption fee, would then be $55.00.
