PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER FACILITY. ALL OF OUR CATS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES.
We are a very small rescue group. The rescue was formed so we can help out the homeless cats and kittens in our area. We will also occasionally have small breed dogs who need new forever homes.
PLEASE READ FULLY BEFORE EMAILING US ABOUT ADOPTING AN ANIMAL
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER FACILITY. ALL OF OUR CATS ARE IN THE HOMES OF VOLUNTEERS.
OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE ALL UNPAID AND HAVE FULL TIME JOBS, FAMILIES, THEIR OWN PETS, ETC. WE TRY TO GET BACK TO PROSPECTIVE ADOPTERS ASAP. PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE A VERY SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE DOING THE BEST WE CAN FOR THE CATS.
**ADOPTERS MUST AGREE TO KEEP THEIR ADOPTED CAT AS AN INDOOR ONLY PETS**
ADOPTION PROCESS AND FEES:
Step 1 in our adoption process is filling out a one page adoption questionnaire. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for an adoption or foster application. We will check your vet and/or personal references and call or email you to discuss your application and let you know about the cat(s) you are interested in.
Step 2 in adoption process is to meet the kitten/cat your are interested in. All of our animals are in private foster homes so we need time to set up a mutually agreed upon time for the meeting. Please be very respectful of our fosters and understand that they are unpaid volunteers with full time jobs, family and other obligations.
Step 3: We have a contract for adopters/fosters to sign that explains what we require as far as your care for your newly acquired kitty. Thrive does not believe in declawing and we ask that you agree not to declaw and to keep your cat indoors at all times.
Step 4: After you are approved and have met the cat(s) and decided to move forward, we will arrange for you to come and get your kitty. At that point you will sign the adoption contract and spay/neuter agreement (if applicable).
Thrive is here after you adopt your kitty to answer questions or help with problems you might have after bringing your kitty home. We do offer a two week trial period for adoptions. If you do not feel the cat is a match for you after the trial period, we will refund your adoption fee minus $20 for processing and expenses we have incurred.
We charge adoption fees to try to cover some of the vet care we provide for our animals. We have our pets vet checked, vaccinated, tested as necessary, spayed/neutered if old enough. If an animal is too young for spay/neuter at time of adoption, we will require a spay/neuter contract and adopters are required to send us proof by the time the animal is 6 months old.
We require a contract for all adopters and fosters so we have an understanding of what is expected of you and let you know how we will help you. We require cats to be indoor only (except in the case of feral/semi feral barn cats). Dogs must either have access to a securely fenced area or leash walked regularly if there is no secure fencing. Dogs must be kept primarily as indoor pets and not chained out or living in outdoor dog houses.
Adoption fees for cats/kittens already spayed/neutered is $60 For kittens not yet altered, the fee is $60 with $40 of that refunded upon proof of spay/neuter.
Dog adoption fees vary from $50-$350 depending on age/breed/health of animal.
We have some really wonderful animals waiting patiently for loving families to open their homes to them. Please check our list of available animals.
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER FACILITY. ALL OF OUR CATS ARE IN PRIVATE HOMES BEING FOSTERED UNTIL ADOPTION.
Thrive is a very small group of volunteers working together to help out local stray animals. We have done trap/neuter/return at a feral cat colony to try to curb the number of homeless kittens born there each year and improve the lives of the adult ferals re-released to the colony. We have been taking in the friendly cats and kittens from the colony and are getting them vet care (including spay/neuter) and are working on finding forever homes for them.
All of our cats are in foster homes with volunteers. We are a very small group of people who rescue strays and cast off pets. We have a few dedicated volunteers who keep the animals in their homes while they await adoption. We can make arrangements for interested applicants to meet the pets they are considering adopting. We do not have a shelter facility.
Please take into consideration that our fosters are unpaid volunteers with busy lives. It may take a little time to agree on a meet up time. We do require you to send your application prior to meeting one of our adoptable animals. We have volunteers opening their own homes to potential adopters so we want to know a little about you and know that you are serious about adopting before we ask our fosters to take time out of their schedules.
We rely 100% on adoption fees and donations for funding. Our volunteers spend their own money for food and supplies for the animals.
In almost all cases we have spent more money on each animal than we charge as an adoption fee. We really want all of our cats and dogs to be healthy at the time of adoption. We work with our vets and our fosters so we can assess all of our animals for health and behavioral issues and provide them with appropriate care.
We try to take advantage of low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, but those also cost money. Spay/neuter surgeries are about $50 at the low cost clinics and vaccines are $10 each. Testing for FIV/FeLV is $35 per cat. Vet exams are a minimum of $22. Many of our cats have been living outdoors or in neglect situations and need medications and vet visits right away.
The rescue volunteers also pay for food, litter, collars, leashes, toys, grooming and other necessities to keep our pets happy and healthy while they await adoption.
Please email us at email@example.com if you are interested in any of our available pets and we will get things moving. Thank you for checking out our page. We hope to help you find the perfect pet!!
