About Us

Our mission is to provide foster care for small dogs in need while working to place them with permanent adoptive families.  We will find families who have the personal commitment and compassion to give these dogs a safe, loving home for the rest of their lives. We promote the humane treatment and well being of these animals, and will educate the public whenever possible on the importance of spaying and neutering.

Adopting A Friend

We are not a shelter. As such, there is no building that you can go to visit the dogs we have for adoption. Atlantic Small Dog Rescue dogs live in foster homes spread throughout Nova Scotia. If you are interested in adopting one of our please fill out an adoption application and return it to the address given.

Want to download an application form? Click the following link http://www.asdrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Adoption-Application.pdf

Once your application is complete you can send it to applications@asdrescue.com

Who We Are

My name is Julie, and I am a co-founder of ASDR.  I've been deeply involved with animal rescue all my adult life.  While living in Victoria, BC, I fostered for and actively volunteered with no less than eight different animal rescue organizations, many of whom I have stayed in touch with since moving to Nova Scotia. I also assisted on occasion with dog obedience and agility classes, and was employed by the Victoria SPCA.

Since moving to Nova Scotia, I have been very active with the CAPS, acting as a quarantine space and foster home for dogs and cats.  I also assist with fundraising efforts for this group and sit on the Vision Committee.

My family includes my equally animal-obsessed husband, two miniscule rescue dogs and one extra-large rescue mutt, zero to two foster dogs on any given day, three foster cats, two older inherited cats and a sickly orphan kitten who rules my heart.  Lots of animals means lots of work, but I cannot imagine a more rewarding lifestyle.

Hi, I'm Danielle. I have been an animal lover from birth, and was always the girl who brought the local stray dogs and cats home. I did not start formally working for animal rescue until 2008 when I joined CCRT, and shortly after I joined TPDR. I have also done some volunteer work with the SPCA. I share my home with two dogs, long haired Chihuahuas named Mason and Buddy.
