Who We Are

Our Mission Statement
TAPA advocates for the humane treatment of feral and stray cats, and promotes TNR (Trap Neuter Return), a humane solution to the overpopulation of cats in HRM. Our goal is to rescue colony kittens and provide them with medical care, and then place them for adoption. Adult cats that are not suitable for adoption are humanely live trapped, spayed, neutered, leukemia tested, vaccinated, ear notched for identification and then returned to their colony.  We then ensure they are provided with food and shelter on an ongoing basis.

Our Values
Our commitment to TNR (Trap Neuter Return) in HRM spans 20+ years. First and foremost, the cats we commit to helping are our first priority. The homes we entrust our rescues to must meet criteria which will ensure the kittens or cats are provided the best care possible and are in agreement to a life commitment of caring for this responsibility. We act with integrity in dealing with our rescues and are ambassadors for the feral cats who are often forgotten or overlooked in our society. As a registered society, we are accountable for the funds entrusted to us to care for our kitten and cat rescues.  100% of donations received go directly to our rescues for their care and vet visits.  We do not receive any funding and are completely run by volunteers.

What have we done?
Since August of 2007 TAPA has helped more than 600 kittens and cats from various outdoor colonies in the HRM area.
