Shaklee supports CARMA!

Each year, thousands of animals are killed in the Albuquerque metropolitan area because they were abandoned, lost or seriously neglected and ended up in one of a series of shelters in the region. In an effort to stop the killing, a small group of dedicated volunteers banded together in 1999 to form a non-profit animal rescue group to address the unnecessary euthanasia of animals in our community. Now, as Companion Animal Rescue and Medical Assistance (CARMA) celebrates its 10th anniversary, we point with pride to the more than 3,500 animals who today are living in wonderful homes through the efforts of our rescue group. But all this takes time and money. Through a partnership with Shaklee, CARMA has become a distributor of these environmentally friendly supplies. When you purchase Shaklee products through the CARMA website, a portion of the purchase price will go to CARMA. All funds go directly to the care, feeding and housing of our dogs and cats--we have no paid staff. Your purchase of these products is not only good for the environment but it also assures that our rescue group can continue its important work. Please ask your friends to consider Shaklee products and to purchase through us. Thank you. Please visit the link above to purchase some of the wonderful Shaklee products.

We need your help. Please consider fostering a dog or a cat. For a small amount of time, you can have the satisfaction of knowing that you have saved a life. Join with us to make our dream of a no-kill community a reality. Please send an email to Gianna to offer your help.

Special Needs Cats: We have numerous shy cats that, given time, will be wonderful in adult homes. Please consider a quiet cat. Many black cats are available, as well, which adopt more slowly.

CARMA is in need of foster homes for both cats and dogs. Please contact us at (505) 321-6275.

Who We Are

CARMA is a New Mexico, non profit, all volunteer, foster care-based corporation aimed at addressing the needs of abandoned, abused, and neglected companion animals (cats and dogs).

CARMA's mission is to find loving homes for dogs and cats. One of CARMA's principal goals is to work with local Animal Control organizations to intercept animals before they are euthanized. CARMA is working closely with Corrales Animal Control to facilitate the transfer of animals into foster care or adoptive homes.

CARMA stresses local involvement, but will reach out to all communities to assist animals in need and to identify safe and appropriate placement.

Adopting a friend

CARMA has a fee of $85-$100 for cats and dogs. The fee pays for the spay/neuter and age-appropriate vaccinations. The application process involves filling out a paper application and then going through a verbal screening with one of our members. We also do a home visit before adopting out the animal.
