Our adoption process begins with an application; you can sometimes take the pet home that day. We also require a home visit to make sure both your needs and the pet's needs are met and to help answer any questions you may have after adoption, an adoption fee and an adoption contract. The adoption fees range from $50-$100 for cats, and $50-$350 for dogs. This fee includes vaccines, vetting, microchip and spay/neuter, heartworm test on dogs over 6 months, and FIV/FELV testing for cats.

Who We Are

**We now offer dog and cat boarding, doggie daycare, cutting edge training classes and also a thrift store at our location at 1616 Eubank Blvd NE.

Positive Paws Rescue & Transport is a registered non-profit in the state of New Mexico. We focus on pulling animals out of high-kill shelters around the state, and we place them into foster homes while they recover from any illnesses and receive important vet care. We also transport other shelter animals to no-kill shelters in Colorado and Utah.

Our adoption program involves a group of generous fosters who take shelter animals into their homes and provide them with love, socialization, and any needed medical care. Our foster pets are often socialized with children, other pets, and many different situations, making them better suited to fit into your life! The other benefit of our foster system is that pets live in homes, giving them a chance to show their true and wonderful personalities outside of a shelter environment, and our "foster parents" know the animals in their care very well. This makes it possible for us to help you find the best match for your family, and also gives you a heads up on personality traits and needs; for example, we may recommend that a puppy attend an obedience class or that a more quiet kitten start out in a single room in your home so he/she can get used to the new environment.

If you're interested in becoming a foster for PPRT, please email us - it's an incredible feeling knowing that you've helped save a life and find a dog or cat its forever home.

We are supported entirely by donations and sponsorship from generous donors. If you would like to donate, paypal contributions can be sent to positivepaws@live.com. You can also send money orders or checks payable to "Positive Paws" to 1616 Eubank Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87112.
