The shelter has many types of dogs and cats available for adoption, including purebred and mixed breeds. Many come to us as surrenders, thus giving us more information on their backgrounds and personalities, whether they get along with dogs, cats or children, and other important information. Others come to us as strays, but even though we don't have a great deal of insight about their previous lives, through daily social interactions and training, the shelter staff and volunteers get to know each dog and cat's personality, enabling us to make the best possible match for each adopter and animal. We treat every animal as an individual, regardless of breed or background.
We have a website where you can learn more about our volunteer and foster programs, read about our adoption policies, download applications and learn about other ways you can support our shelter. Click here to go to the website!
Kaley has been living at the shelter since January 2017. She was found as a frightened stray at Bloomfield Center without any signs of recent human interaction. It took some time for her to learn she was in a safe place and surrounded by caring staff & volunteers. No one knows what her previous life was like, but that shouldn't stop her from having a bright future. She is only about 3 years old, UTD on vaccinations, spayed, and is a gentle walker. Once she trusts you she LOVES you, and she even loves male dogs! She's quite the flirt! Please come meet Kaley during adoption hours Monday to Friday, 2 to 5 p.m., (Wednesday 2 to 6 p.m.), or Saturday/Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
The shelter is located on Bukowski Place off of Hoover Ave next to the Garden Apartments and Glendale Cemetery. The shelter is right off of GSP North exit 150.Please click here for our Amazon wish list.
