Who We Are

Shiba Rescue of New Jesey is a small group of dedicated families living in Ocean County NJ who have opened their hearts and homes to neglected, unwanted and displaced Shibas. We are the only one of three active Shiba Rescue Organization on the East Coast of the US and have fostered and re-homed over 300 Shiba/Jindos and mixes and have doing rescue for over 1o years. We have close ties to other independent Shiba Rescues across the US and work with many all breed rescues as well.

Our goal is to facilitate Shiba rescue by:
1. Providing a central point of contact for shelters and for those seeking help in re-homing their Shiba Inu.
2. Provide foster homes as space is available
3. Providing information to educate the general public about Shiba Inu and Shiba Inu rescue.
4. Facilitating the adoption of any Shiba Inu in need.

Adoption Process

Here's what to expect from Shiba Rescue of NJ. You will be required to fill out an application form, provide information about yourself, your family, provide at least one references and a reference from your veterinarian (if you currently have a pet). You will also be asked to tell us what kind of temperament a dog should have to fit in your home or if you have your eye on one already, you would include the pet's name on your application form to adopt. Once your application form has been reviewed and your references checked, a home check will need to be completed. The Rescue will now try to find you the best possible match. If you are the successful applicant for the pet, you are then welcome to come and meet the dog. You are not obligated to adopt should you determine the fit is not correct, however we must go through this process prior to meeting the dog. Please note that our adoption applicants are carefully screened for suitability and compatibility as well as criteria related to care and commitment. We do reserve the right to deny an adoption applicant. The final step in the process is to pay the adoption donation which range from 100 to 300 and sign the adoption contract.

Please send us an email request for an adoption application if you are interested in adding a shiba to your family. Email your completed adoption application to
