OUR MISSION

To help you help the strays! To reduce animal population! To reduce euthanasia in shelters! Communities Altering The Strays (CATS) is dedicated to reducing the population of cats, humanely, through education and spaying and neutering - not euthanasia.

WHAT WE DO

We provide assistance and advice to groups or individuals that want to help homeless cats. By providing instructional and educational materials, along with various sources of low-cost spay/neuter services, we have already made a great impact on the number of homeless cats.

YOU WANT TO HELP THE CATS BUT YOU ARE AFRAID THAT THE CATS WILL BE TAKEN AWAY AND EUTHANIZED.

We know how you feel. You've tried and tried to find help.

The cats are multiplying and you don't know what to do.

The shelters, rescue groups, and even animal control do their best.

They can't respond to all the calls because there are just too many animals.

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER AND CAN'T ACCEPT ANIMALS FROM THE PUBLIC

Though we do not take in cats, we can offer you suggestions that will help you find a home for your personal cat, or a stray cat that you may have found. We can keep your information on file and will refer people to you if they are looking for a cat that fits your cat's description. It can take some time and effort to find new placement for cats, but with some persistance you should be able to find a good home for your cat. We are not a shelter and do not believe that more shelters are the answer to solving the overpopulation crisis. If less animals are born, then shelters will be less crowded, and less animals will be euthanized. We, instead, focus our efforts on educating people about spaying and neutering animals, preventing litters, and providing better lives for the cats.

We give special attention to independent rescuers who want to learn about TNR (trap/neuter/return). We promote the guidelines from Alley Cat Allies and receive many inquiries based on their referrals.

WHO WE ARE

WE ARE SPAY & NEUTER ADVOCATES!

We are volunteers that help people to help stray cats.
Communities Altering The Strays (CATS) is a nonprofit, no-kill, volunteer, educational, and information resource that assists people who are seeking answers to questions about stray cats, hard-strays, feral cats, and family pets.

Our experience has shown that most people are willing to do whatever they can to help homeless cats as long as they know what to do. We will encourage you and support you because we have seen that

ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

"I am only one.

But still I am one.

I cannot do everything,

But still I can do something.

And because I cannot do everything

I will not refuse to do

something I can do."

Saving just one stray won't change the world...
But surely the world will change for that one stray!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Contact us! There are many ways that you can help homeless cats even if you don't want to start your own rescue group. If you would like to help our organization trap, foster, or find homes for cats, we'd love to hear from you. If you'd like to start your own group, contact us! We can help you along the way.

Communities Altering The Strays supports the NO-KILL philosophy. No cat within our reach will ever be euthanized for the sake of convenience, or to make room for other cats. Euthanasia (death to end suffering) is reserved only for cats that are in an advanced stage of suffering and are beyond medical help.

We can not accept cats from the public. We focus our efforts on cats that we have rescued during our safe-trapping projects. Though some of these cats were located in feral cat colonies, the kittens and friendly, lost or abandoned cats are offered for adoption. These cats are currently living in foster homes and many are offered for adoption through our veterinarians.
