Adoption fees are $35. It is required that the adopter get the dog or cat vaccinated against Rabies within 2 weeks of adoption. An Animal Control Officer will visit the residence and request proof of the Rabies Vaccination. If the adopter cannot show proof, then the animal will be taken back into Animal Control's custody.
If a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Rescue group wishes to rescue one of the animals, the non-profit papers will need to be faxed to: (910) 576-4566. The adoption fee will then be waived.

Montgomery County Animal Control is located in rural part of central North Carolina. Until late November 2012, this shelter was known to have the highest euthanasia rate in the entire state. With volunteer and public help, the adoption rate has been increasing, and donations of food and supplies have allowed the animals to be kept for longer periods of time to allow for adoption and rescue. The shelter still desperately needs the help of the public in order to keep from having to put any of the animals to sleep. Please consider saving the life of a shelter animal today!
The Animal Shelter is by appointment only between 7:30AM – 3:30PM M-F
