Who We Are

Noah’s Ark Humane Society is a non-profit corporation operating within Noah’s Ark Companion Animal Hospital. Our mission is to address the urgent problem of pet over-population in Macon County, North Carolina. In 2006, Noah’s Ark performed or coordinated 1000 low cost surgeries, and adopted 100 homeless or surrendered pets. Our goal for 2008 is to coordinate 1400 low cost spay-neuter surgeries. Our spring campaign, “Spay Before Five Months", encourages pet owners to spay and neuter their dogs and cats BEFORE five months. Even one litter continues the vicious cycle of suffering that homeless animals endure.

Many adoptable, homeless animals do come under the care of Noah's Ark. After a complete medical & behavioral evaluation, spay /neuter surgery and microchip, these pets become available for adoption.

News

Noah's Ark Humane Society offers low-cost spay/neutering twice a month. In conjunction with the Humane Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic in Asheville, NC, we are able to assist the community in getting personal pets and/or neighborhood strays spayed/neutered for $49 or less! Stopping overpopulation in the community through spaying and neutering drastically reduces the number of homeless cats and dogs wandering the streets.

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please contact us for the most current status of the pet you are interested in. We generally require an appointment to see pets through our adoption coordinator, Barb Abel. Please do not arrive at Noah's Ark without first checking the status of the pet you're interested in, and coordinating the best time to visit. We have an adoption application that can be sent to you in advance of a visit to Noah’s Ark. We require veterinarian references as part of our adoption process. Once you submit an application, long distance applicants will be contacted for a telephone interview, and to set up an appointment to visit. Feline adoption fees are generally $49, adult dogs are $139. Adoption fees help to cover spaying/neutering, vaccinations, medical care, and housing costs
