I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal and I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then spoke softly, "I have done something," was the reply, "I created you."
We are a group of people that love animals, who for all our faults and differences come together for one thing...to do the best we can for the welfare of the animals.
Our goals at the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society are to rescue animals from abuse and neglect; to educate pet owners about proper animal welfare, to promote spaying and neutering to avoid over-population and abuse; and to bring people and pets together for the benefit of both.
To adopt your new pet, you will need to come to the shelter and fill out our application form. Also sign a waiver giving us permission to call your vet and check on previous or past owned pets . Our adoption fee is $75.00. This includes a free vet check within 7 days of adoption, first shots, worming, and spay/neuter when the animal is of age. It is mandatory that you have your pet spayed or neutered. If the pet you adopt is already spayed or neutered the fee is $50.00 If you live outside of the Vicksburg area please include your city & state with your e-mail inquiries.
Directions from I-20 West:
From I-20 West take the Highway 61 South/Natchez exit.
Go down Highway 61 South passing 3 red lights and the airport.
We are on the left side of the road beside Gibson Monument.
There is no turn off place there so you will need to continue a little farther down to the bridge and turn around. We will be the first building on the right.
It is a cream colored metal building set slightly off the road .
