Fees for adoption from the city pound are $30. This includes a rabies vaccination. Animals under 4 months old have adoption fees of $10 with the adopter required to have rabies vaccination done when the pet is old enough. Out of state residents may adopt, but a health certificate is required through the vet (you will need to contact Halo for Animals for assistance with this prior to arriving for adoption).
Most of these animals do not have a medical history, so a vet visit is extremely important.
All animals from the pound must be spayed or neutered.
HALO (volunteer organization that helps pound animals find homes) offers a half-price spay/neuter certificate (not to exceed $50) for animals adopted from the pound (while funds continue to be available).
These are redeemable at Sullivan Veterinary Hospital, Animal Clinic of Union, Krakow Veterinary Clinic and St. Clair Pet Hospital, however; we will also accept spay/neuter bills from other vets with the certificate.
