Cooper has a face that just melts your heart! He was rescued from a high kill pound where he was a volunteer favorite but his time had run up and he was next in line to be put down. Cooper is so happy to have been rescued and can't wait to meet his forever family! He is crate trained, knows his basic commands, and very friendly! He greets everyone he meets as though its not the first time : ) Cooper really loves other dogs but chases cats too much to be in a home with them. He gets excited for playtime with other dogs so would be best with a dog of similar size who also enjoys play (or a senior in similar size who would ignore invites to play). He is very responsive to training and like all other dogs in our care, we are looking for someone to continue to provide positive reinforcement. Please email to request an adoption application. Cooper would do best in a home with grown kids as being around chaos with the little ones seems to overwhelm him. He is approx 3 years old.

In an effort to find our wonderful cats their forever home, we have reduced our adoption fees on felines.

Who We Are

A New Leash On Life is a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from high kill shelters in and around Michigan. We rely on a network of fosters to care for 'unwanted' companion animals until they can be placed in loving, permanent homes.

Adopting a friend

To adopt a pet from us, you must first fill out an adoption application. It will then be reviewed and we will contact you, ususally within 24 hours. Once approved, it may be possible to meet the pet in person before our weekend adoption event. However, we are all volunteers with busy schedules so please be patient with us. You are always welcome to come visit us at our Petco adoptions (adoption event schedule will always be posted on this page). We do same day adoptions, so please be prepared to bring your new family member home. This includes having a carrier for a cat or a collar, leash and ID tag for a dog. All of these items may be purchased at Petco.
