Our Featured Pet...
Meet Tortie! Tortie is a "special needs" cat and she needs a quieter home where she will be the only cat. It will take tortie quite sometime to adjust to her new situation. (At least 6 months) She is very shy and quiet at first. Once she adjusts to you and her new environment she is an excellent cat! She is extremely affectionate and her favorite spot is cuddled up in your lap! She loves to sleep with you in bed and she will come to you when you call her!! She is very playful and LOVES her laser light! She is quite a hoot when she comes out of her shell. She just needs someone who will give her time to do so.
When Tortie came into the rescue, she was deemed a "wild" "feral" cat. I seen something special in her though. Most "wild" and "feral" cats do not let you pet them. Tortie would let people pet her, she would hiss at them at first, but then let them pet her. I took it upon myself to take her home and work with her.
For the first few months, she was terrified in my house. She would run from hiding place to hiding place. After awhile I realized I was going to get no place with her hiding all the time. I decided to clear out a room for her. It literally had nothing in it, she had no place to hide now! I would go in that room with her every night for a few hours and talk to her and offer her treats and wet food and just let her get used to me and understand I was not going to hurt her. Soon she started coming to me for attention when I would come into the room. After about a month of her being kept in this room, I slowly introduced her to the house. When she came into the rescue she was absolutely terrified which is what led her to act mean and like a "feral" cat. Tortie is the most loving affectionate cat that I know. She just needs the right home to be patient with her and give her time to come out of her shell. She does fine with dogs, I have 2 myself, however, it will take her a little longer to adjust to them. She does not do well with other cats at all. I will not place her into a home with another cat.
I guarantee that Tortie, given the chance in the right home, will make a wonderful companion for someone! If you would like to know more about Tortie please call her foster mommy Michelle at (586) 944-7210. Or you can E-mail us at email@example.com
Who We Are
We are a newly established - private, local, non-profit, foster based, no-kill cat and dog rescue. All of the animals that are in our care have been rescued from one place or another. We pull from high kill animal shelters, we take in the sick, unwanted, aggressive, abandoned, abused & neglected animals and place them in a foster home with someone who will rehabilitate them and show them what it is like to be loved again. We feel that all animals deserve better, and we strive to show them better. Our mission is to "Adopt the Unadoptables" So many people, and some other so called "rescues" will walk into an animal shelter to pull out an animal and walk past the bully breeds, or the ones who need the desperate medical attention, or the ones who "seem" aggressive ..... NOT US! We welcome them into our rescue. That is what we are all about. We work with the public and provide vet care for people who can not afford it. We rely solely on donations from the public and our adoption fees. This is what keeps us in business. Who we adopt today will pay for who comes into the rescue tomorrow. Our volunteers and foster mommys and daddys are who make this rescue happen. We could not be a rescue without them. If you would like to foster or volunteer for our rescue please contact us today!
A PET'S TEN
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely
to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is
crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember
that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative,
ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too,
will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me
please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't
make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me
if you are there, because I love you so. ALWAYS!
~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets.
Enjoy and take good care of them. Life would be
a much duller, less joyful experience without
We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded
by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth
and has four legs!
