Our adoption process:
If you are interested in any of our adoptable animals, please visit our facility and fill out an adoption survey. We require all adopters to go through an adoption consult with one of our adoption counselors before adopting from us. If you decide not to adopt the day you have your first consult, your approval is valid for 6 months. If you have questions about our adoption process or policies, please contact us at (616)453-8900 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our normal adoption fees:
*if you live in Kent County and the dog/puppy is old enough for a rabies vaccine, we are required to issue a Kent County dog license for an additional $12 (half price if you are over 60 years old).
Humane Society of West Michigan, a 501(c)3 non profit organization, assists over 8,000 animals annually. We are 100% donor-funded! We receive no funding from the government or national animal welfare organizations. Caring individuals and businesses in our community support our mission to rescue hurt, abused and abandoned animals and find them new forever homes. Additional programs help reduce pet overpopulation, provide assistance to low income pet owners, behaviorally assess animals and reunite lost pets with their owners.
Adoptions at HSWM are first come first served, and are walk in only.
Our normal adoption hours are:
Sunday-Monday: Closed to Public
Tuesday-Friday: 12:00pm - 7:00pm
Please note: Adoption consults end 30 minutes prior to closing time each day.
We admit animals by appointment only, so if you need to re-home your pet please call (616)453-8900 or email email@example.com
