The Kalamazoo Animal Rescue is an all volunteer, federally recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1991. Our primary goal has remained the same, to rescue cats and dogs from cases of abuse and neglect. Since our inception, we have worked with over 4000 animals.
Kalamazoo Animal Rescue (KAR) is funded solely by private donations and fund raising events. KAR does not receive any local, state or federal funding. Our largest expenditure comes from providing the necessary veterinary care the animals require including surgeries, spay/neutering, vaccinations, and more.
All prospective adoptive families are interviewed before an adoption. To find the best possible matches, questions are asked of the family to determine what type of animal, personality, characteristics, etc. they are interested in.
Please go to our web site to see what vet care is provided and/or to fill out an online adoption application.

The Kalamazoo Animal Rescue is made up entirely of volunteers. Also, we are funded solely by private donations and fund raising events. We need your help to continue our efforts to help animals in the Kalamazoo area.
We need volunteers interested in being foster homes, help with fund raisers, phone workers, help with Pet-A-Thons ... and the list goes on. Donations of cat litter, cat food, dog food, pet carriers, litter boxes, collars, leashes and just about every other item associated with caring for pets and running an office are needed.
Please visit our web site to find out about other volunteering opportunities, to fill out a volunteer application and to find out what sort of donations we need.
