Our Featured Pet…

The small staff at S.O.S. Deaf Dog Rescue is currently on sabbatical. We have been involved in rescue for many years and find ourselves in need of some personal time. We are keeping our Petfinder account active, but will not be adding any dogs to our program until further notice. We appreciate your understanding. If you have a deaf dog and need help, please contact the appropriate breed rescue in your area. In the near future, we look forward to again helping wonderful, loving deaf dogs find their places in fantastic forever homes, LIKE YOURS! Stay tuned!

Who We Are

Right now, S.O.S. is a very small organization in the District of Columbia. We are in the process of building our national network of approved foster homes and deaf-friendly shelters. Once we receive our 501c3 status, we will be able to take tax-deductible donations. If you think you'd like to provide a loving foster home environment for one of the many deaf dogs needing help, please contact us! A detailed application with references will be required.

Adopting a friend

S.O.S. believes strongly in responsible rescue practices. We require an in-depth adoption application with references and an in-depth adoption contract, along with a home visit, discussions on what breed/type of dog would be best for you and your family and visits with the appropriate dog. We can sometimes arrange out of state transport, if your adoption application is approved, but we would obviously rather that you be close enough to visit and interact with your prospective family member. We do ask for an adoption donation, usually between $125 - $150, to help us cover some of our many expenses.

Come Visit Us!

We don't yet have a physical place to visit, but hope to very soon. At that time, we will welcome visits by appointment.
