Adopting A Friend

Adopting a friend

For pets adopted through DIDR/ECAA, you first call the phone number listed under the available pet. Then submit your application and we confirm all information. If your application is approved we will notify you. We will set up a day and time for you to come meet the pet in person. If you're interested in adopting, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee at this time. You will be able to take the pet home at that time.

All pets adopted from DIDR/ECAA must go to indoor only homes. Pets you currently have or have had in the last five years must have been kept current on vaccinations and must have been spayed or neutered. We require adopters to be at least 18 years of age. Until the adoption fee has been paid and a contract signed, pets are considered still available for adoption, will remain on the website and we will continue to take applications and screen potential adopters.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees are based on many things, but the standard fee for pets adopted through the DIDR/ECAA program are usually $280, but can range from $100-350 for dogs. Courtesy listed pets may or may not have adoption fees. Our adoption fees go towards care of the animals, medication, pull fees, transportation of them to us, vet bills etc.

Who We Are

We are a small rescue group in Massachussettes, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and New York that takes in pets from high kill shelters in rural areas before they are euthanized. We are a no-kill rescue and feel that once we've made a verbal commitment to an animal, it's a lifetime commitment on our part. We feel that any adoptions from us make you a part of our family, and we keep our doors open to you for a lifetime. We only euthanize for health problems that have eliminated an animal's quality of life and there is little to no chance of ever recovering, or in rare cases of extreme aggression that could not be corrected after extended rehabilitation. When we started the rescue in 2007, we used to drive 12 hour days to save homeless animals, and bring them back to our houses. Now use USDA certified transporters, and we are proud to be a 501c3 non-profit agency that saves many lives each year. Dogs In Danger Rescue is our rescue base in MD, but since we expanded we DBA East Coast Adoption Agency. Also, not to be confused with Dogsindanger.com.

We only rescue our dogs from high kill shelters and southern rescues. Which means a majority of dogs admitted there, are euthanized due to lack of space. We very rarely take in owner surrenders, and do not aquire animals from anywhere else besides these shelters we have worked with for years. Our dogs currently in foster, are kept in large play pens, indoors, with plenty of toys, food, water and blankets. We believe that fostering should be a positive experience for the dog, and adopting should be an smooth, wonderful experience for you.
