More About Us

NEARR is short for North East All Retriever Rescue. We are a rescue group that formed from various other groups in the Northeast out of concern for overwhelming numbers of Labs (and retrievers in general) at shelters. We typically have between 3-5 rescued retrievers in foster homes throughout our region. At this time, NEARR can only accept adoption applications from the following regions:

Massachusetts: all counties, excluding Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard
Connecticut: Windham, New London, Hartford, and Tolland counties only.
Southeastern Maine: York, Cumberland
Southern New Hampshire: Merrimack, Rockingham, Sullivan, Cheshire, Strafford and Hillsborough counties only
Rhode Island: all counties excluding Block Island
Vermont: Bennington, Rutland, Windham, Windsor counties only

If you live in New England but are location in a region we currently do not service, please email us - we may be able to help! Please be aware that NEARR is an all-volunteer organization. Phone calls or emails asking about a particular dog will not be returned at this time. Our website is updated with new information as we receive it.

Adopting a Friend

Our application process involves four steps: (1) Review of NEARR's policies (2) Reading through our How To Adopt page. (3) Filling out an adoption application! (4) Matching our dogs with the right homes!

Volunteering, Donations, and Foster Homes

Volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated. Please contact our volunteer coordinator.
