Foster Homes Needed

GSRNE is always looking for foster homes. Some of our fosters continuing helping numerous dogs one after another, some foster and then take a break and some adopt their foster dog. This means that we are always looking for foster homes. Without them, we can't help the dogs. Fosters are truly the cornerstone of our program. Interested in helping save a dog's life? Check out our foster page at Fostering For GSRNE

Adopting a Friend

Please CLICK HERE! for more information about adoption requirements. PLEASE NOTE: We ask that you please read our adoption requirements before calling the hotline to adopt a dog. GSRNE has a "fenced area" requirement for adopting most dogs, except for more quiet Seniors.

Volunteer and Help German Shepherd Dogs!!!

We are always happy to have volunteers join GSRNE to help out staffing a booth at dog events, transport dogs, help with fundraisers, do home visit interviews with prospective adopters, or of course, to foster a lucky dog! Email us at volunteer@gsrne.org if you are interested in helping out the German Shepherd Dogs of New England.

Contact Us!

Please call our 24-hour hotline at 978-443-2202 for more information about fostering or volunteering. We will return your call within 48 hours (if not sooner!)

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please read our adoption requirements here before calling.

PLEASE NOTE: GSRNE does not have a kennel facility - all of our lucky dogs live in foster homes! Therefore, dog adoption visits are done in the dog's foster home by appointment once your application and home visit are completed. This way, we can match you to the perfect dog for you, and you can meet that dog in a relaxed home setting, instead of an over-stimulated kennel situation.

Who We Are

GSRNE is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing veterinary care, evaluation & adoptive homes for the countless numbers of German Shepherd Dogs who are left in pounds to await uncertain fate, are owner surrenders (divorce, death, etc.), or are from abuse or neglect situations. We help provide a safe harbor for German Shepherds that might otherwise be destroyed.

Each dog applying to our program is evaluated for temperament and behavioral information. All accepted dogs are spayed or neutered, updated on vaccinations, and receive essential medical care. Then the dogs are placed into GSRNE foster homes, while they await new homes. Finally, each dog is carefully placed in a loving home with a family that matches that dog’s temperament, activity level and needs.

The advantage of working with GSRNE to find your next German Shepherd Dog is that we work to match you with the RIGHT German Shepherd Dog, not just any GSD. With the GSD breed, this is very important - not all GSDs are the same and while you will love living with the right dog, you may find that living with the wrong one for you can be a real mistake. We help to guide you into finding a dog who will click with you, one you'll be thrilled to spend many years with! This process is taken very seriously so that you have years of happiness with your new companion.

GSRNE serves adopters and dogs in the 6 New England states (MA, ME, RI, CT, VT and NH). We are happy to refer you to places listing local rescue groups if you live outside of our region.
