All potential adopters must complete an adoption application.
We want to place our fosters in the best homes possible, so sorry, our adoption application is thorough!
Once you send in a completed application, we will set up a time for you to meet the dog(s) or cat(s) you think will be a great match for you and/or your family. Our meet and greets usually take place at one of our fosters' homes in the Boston area, but sometimes we can come to you.
If all goes well with the meet and greet, we will do a home check and home delivery. An adoption contract will be signed at the time of placement.
Our adoption fees are $250-$400 for dogs, $150-$200 for cats.
Second Chance for Furry Friends is a non-profit rescue group that was started in 2011 by a group of volunteers that believes that no animal should suffer or die in a shelter simply because of geography.
We pull animals at risk for euthanasia from overcrowded and underfunded animals shelters, and prepare them for adoption. Once an animal is ready of adoption, we transport them to our fosters, where they can meet their potential adopters.
We do NOT have a physical shelter building. All animals reside in private foster homes until adoption. Each potential adopter must have an approved application on file before in order to schedule a meet-and-greet. The application does not obligate you to adoption. It allows us to get to know you before inviting you into our homes to meet our fosters.
***We do not transport animals for adoption. All our adoptions are local as we do home deliveries for every foster.***
We spay/neuter all our animals prior to adoption, get them up-to-date with their vaccinations, isolate them for a minimum of two weeks, and test them for communicable diseases. We do all the routine pre-adoption preparations, too, like de-worming and de-fleaing, and most of our animals are micro-chipped. Since many animals end up at the shelter because of medical issues, we take care of those issues prior to adoption, too!
Our goal is to have universally happy adoptions. To that end, we will take back any of our fosters and return all adoption fees within two weeks of adoption.
Currently we only foster small breed dogs and cats, due to space limitations at our foster homes. If you are looking for a specific type of dog (breed, age, sex), and you don't see a dog that matches what your are looking for in our system, please ask. This is especially true if you are looking for an older dog! We would love to help you give an older dog a much needed home.
Since we don't have a shelter, approved adopters will be invited to meet our fosters in one of our local foster homes.
