The Animal Rescue League of Fall River was founded in 1913 to help overworked and abused draft horses. Through the years, the purpose of the League evolved to assist unwanted companion animals. The League is a private, non-profit organization and receives no federal, state, county or city funds. The League is totally reliant on donations, grants and fund-raisers to operate. Public support helps disadvantaged pets that are entirely reliant on your generosity for its survival. Besides operating the shelter, the League operates a low-cost spay/neuter/wellness clinic and conducts educational programs and other public awareness activities to help improve the quality of life for all animals. League representatives are available to speak to local civic and volunteer organizations on humane issues. Additionally, we offer a nursing home visitation program, school visit program, and bereavement counseling. The League has an active volunteer program in which interested participants will find a variety of ways to become involved. Volunteers are always needed for activities like walking dogs, cat and puppy socializing, grooming, office support, off-site visits with pets and fund-raising events. Our time schedules are very flexible, if you would like to become a League volunteer, please contact us and we will send you an application.
