Neponset Valley Humane Society is an all-unpaid volunteer organization that rescues formerly owned and abandoned pets and places them in foster homes until they are adopted. All animals are spayed/neutered and vet-checked prior to adoption. We require those interested in providing a loving home to fill out an application.
Note: Our adoptable cats are living in foster homes. All visits are by appointment only. Please email or call to arrange a visit.
We work with the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society to access their low-cost catmobile for spay/neuter. In cases of need, we may be able to help defray the costs. Please contact us to discuss.
Have a feral cat for whom you are caring? Thank you for doing so! If you need help capturing the cat, or caring for it during bad weather, please call 781-769-1990 or email us email@example.com for special instructions and support.
Neponset Valley Humane Society, Inc., founded in 1993, is a 501(c)(3), all volunteer, non-profit charitable organization with a no-kill philosophy, dedicated to helping animals. We have volunteers in the Neponset Valley region - southwest of the Boston.
NVHS has been caring for needy animals since its inception in 1993. In addition to the rehoming of formerly loved animals, we also care for numerous cat colonies with hundreds of cats each day throughout the Neponset Valley and adjacent towns. Each day the animals are fed, newcomers are trapped and spayed or neutered while sick animals are helped. We also have a unique program called Seniors for Seniors. Too many older cats are considered to be no longer lovable due to age. Most of these cats live to 20 years or more if cared for by loving owners. Our program provides support to those seniors (those age 60+) who adopt a senior cat and we will help with costs for medical care and even food and litter, in cases of need.
Thank you for considering providing a loving forever home for a cat in need. Our cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV and Leukemia. In lieu of an adoption fee, NVHS requests a donation in the amount of $50 to $100 to help us continue to help the cats. It is imperative that every cat is spayed or neutered in order to help stop this very sad problem of cats not having homes simply due to overpopulation. Your donations help us continue our mission of helping to stop the pet overpopulation problem through spay/neuter. If you are a senior, or if you are thinking about adopting a senior or special needs cat, please ask about our Seniors for Seniors or Special Kitties program.
If you are considering a kitten, please consider adopting a pair. Few things are as much fun in life as watching kittens play with each other and then cuddle up together once they've exhausted each other. It's fun for them and its fun for us. With all our lives so busy these days, it's important that a baby has a friend while we are at work or school. Most kittens do best in pairs. If you are sure you cannot adopt two, we will find a confident kitty for you who enjoys being the only one. Our adoption fee for a pair of kittens is $160.00.
Have another pet at home and not sure if he or she wants a new sibling? Don't worry. Our volunteers are eager to provide advice on how to do the introduction. Because our cats are in foster homes, we can usually tell you if they get along with other cats or with dogs. Everyone wants to live in a family where there is harmony among the pets. We understand that and our volunteers will do our best to help you find the cat who is right for your home and family.
