Who We Are
The Kentucky Humane Society is the oldest animal agency in Kentucky, largest animal welfare organization and largest no-kill shelter in the state. As a private, non-profit animal welfare agency, KHS has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of unwanted animals each year for more than 125 years.
Thanks to the community’s continued support, we’re making Louisville and its surrounding areas a better place for our four-legged friends and the people who love them.
We do more than you think!
In addition to finding loving homes for more than 6,000 cats and dogs a year, KHS provides the following services to pets and their people:
• High-quality, low-cost spay/neuter surgery for more than 9,000 pets annually at our S.N.I.P. Clinic
Educational programs and summer camps for more than 7,000 children a year.
The KHS Eastpoint Pet Resort and KHS Fern Creek Pet Resort, which provide excellent accommodations to pets while their people are away.
Positive reinforcement behavior training to more than 600 dogs a year, helping further the canine-human bond.
