Hugoton Animal Shelter

Our Pet List

We have been working with a newly formed humane society called D.A.W.G.S. (Domestic Animal Welfare Group of Stevens Co.) With their help we have been able to medically treat some of our adoptable animals.

Donate a Bed

We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

.::Who We Are::.

We are Animal Control for Hugoton Police Department. We are a Kill Shelter. So if you are interested in one of our animals contact us as soon as possible, our animals lives depend on it. We house dogs at large and strays.We are responsible for enforcing City Animal Ordinances. We do not have facilities to house cats or other animals, so therefore we must pay to board at our local Veterinarians office. This is often beyond our Financial means.We often depend on donations to our Benevolence Fund to save a life, if you would like to help please send your donation to:

....sometimes we barely keep are heads above water!

.::Adopting a friend::.

Our fees to adopt a Companion are $80.00 for a female and $75.00 for a male. You have 90 days to Spay or Neuter your New Pet, the deposit will be refunded when the surgery is completed. If you reside in the City of Hugoton your dog will need a city dog tag, at the cost of $1.00 and proof of a Rabies Vaccination.

.::Come Visit Us!::.

We have one Animal Control Officer, so to view the animals please call for an appointment and she will be happy to show her dogs. Call 620-544-4959 or 544-2020.

.::Did you know?::.

Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. Put another way, for every person that is born, 15 dogs and 45 cats are also born. You do the math, there is no way we can find homes for them all. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals from here to eternity. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them.
