Olathe Animal Control operates a clean, modern animal Shelter where many animals are available for adoption. Olathe Animal Control is a unit of the Special Operations Division of the Olathe Police Department. Animal Control provides for a safe and healthy environment for both the animals and the citizens of Olathe through enforcement of the Animal Control Ordinances. This is accomplished by providing enforcement and community education through the following:
It is against the law in Olathe for any person to own, keep or harbor a dog or cat more than six months old unless the animal is properly licensed.
License Fees: $10.00 for spayed or neutered animals
$35.00 for dogs non-spayed or non-neutered
$25.00 for cats non-spayed or non-neutered
It is unlawful to allow an animal to "run at large".
No person, residential premises, or household may have, hold or contain more than a combined total of four animals more then four months of age without a special use permit.
All female animals in heat must be confined in a building in such a manner that the animal cannot come into contact with a male animal except for planned breeding.
