How to Adopt

We do not do pet adoptions from our shelter location. Instead, we have satellite adoption events every Saturday at PetSmart stores in Olathe, Overland Park and Wyandotte County. We also have satellite adoption events on Sundays at the Olathe store.

Cats are also available for adoption at the adoption centers inside the Olathe and Wyandotte County PetSmarts. You may visit those cats any day during PetSmart business hours.

The Ray of Hope Program

In 2009 we partnered with The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, volunteers, no-kill rescues and shelters, and breed rescue groups. The Ray of Hope program significantly reduced euthanasia in our shelter, saving thousands of pets. Our partnership includes transfers of pets to no-kill groups, spaying and neutering of all of those pets, weekend satellite events, and distributing information on low-cost spaying and neutering to the KCK community.

For more information on The Ray of Hope and how you can help (besides adopting!), visit The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City web site.

Would You Like to Provide a Foster Home for a Dog?

If you are interested in fostering dogs from KCK Animal Control, please send an email to sholloway@kckpd.org. Include what type of dog you can accommodate and we will connect you with one of our Ray of Hope rescue partners. Our rescue partners can take more dogs from us and find them good homes if they have more foster homes. And that allows us to save more lives!
