Jasper County Animal Shelter has been in service since 1998. The opportunity to post our shelter's adoptable animals on PetFinder has increased our adoptions by 60% to 70 % and helped us tremendously.
We hope to be able to schedule some events to educate our community on the importance of spaying and neutering and of the ordinanace requirements for dog and cat ownership in Jasper County.
We would like to give a BIG Special Thanks to Petfinder and all Rescue Organizations and Individuals who have helped and continue to assist us find wonderful, loving forever homes for all of our displaced homeless animals!

Jasper County Animal Shelter was founded in November of 1998 in efforts to help control & assist with stray animal overpopulation. We are a County Government funded facility.
We accept donations. Items needed are dog food, cat food, bleach, laundry detergent, cat litter, treats and toys for dogs and cats, old blankets, towels, wash clothes , stuffed animals etc.,spray bottles,Cat and dog treats, dog and cat food and water bowls, flea and tick shampoo and spray's and medicines. We also accept monetary donations.
Of course the most important item is you , just stopping by and showing some of our animals some affection and attention.
We do not have the necessary space to become a no-kill organization. Thus, we do perform humane euthanasia when necessary. We do strive to ensure that every adoptable animal that comes to our shelter has as much of an opportunity as possible to find a loving forever home. However, being a small shelter we do all we can with the space we have before euthanisia.
One of our most important goals is to develop and create a successful low cost spay/neuter assistance program for our community. We are always looking for new ideas to help the community with low cost options.
Our Adoption Policy: We charge a $35.00 adoption fee for dogs/puppies and $25.00 adoption fee for cats/kittens. Adoption fees cover the first vaccination and de-wormer and animals 6 mths and over, Heartworm test for dogs and a Feline Leukemia and Aids test for cats. May also cover a micro-chip.
All adopters must fill out an adoption application and take that Application and vaccination record that Shelter has given you , to a licensed veterinarian, adoption application is what gives you discount at one of the 3 veterinarians giving discount, get a prepaid receipt for the spay or neuter and Rabies vaccination for that dog/cat from before the animal leaves the shelter and set up an appointment date for as soon as vet can get the animal in to be fixed if of age . In the event the animal is not old enough to spayed/neutered and given the vaccine, a prepaid receipt is still required. If not of age appointment must be made as soon as reach maturity that your vet will do, If they can set an appointment up that far in advance it needs to be made at the time of prepay.
We do currently have three local veterinarians who offer a discount for the spay/neuter and Rabies vaccination of all animals adopted from the shelter.
To adopt, we require the completion of an adoption application. Typically, we are able to perform adoption approvals in a timely manner so that in most cases -- you are able to take your new pet home on the SAME DAY!
