About our Rescue
Center Grove Pet Rescue & Orphanage is an organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of unwanted and abandoned pets in order to prevent their eventual euthanasia. Our purpose is to place these animals in stable, loving homes after they are health screened, spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and generally in good health. Our mission statement is "Connecting People and Pets for the Mutual Enrichment of Life".
Our address is: 2435 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
Where do the Animals Come From?
The pets we rescue and rehabilitate come from different locations. Some are found as strays, some are brought to us by owners that can no longer care for them, and others are relinquished by high-kill shelters that may not have the resources or space available in able to provide for them at that time.
Adopting A Friend...
Adopting a friend is a life-long commitment. Your new pet will not only require food, water and shelter, but yearly vaccinations, monthly heartworm preventative and also vet care in the event of an unexpected illness or injury. Please allow for such expenses in your monthly and yearly budget before considering adopting a pet.
Adoption Fees for Dogs and What is Included
The adoption donation for adult dogs is $185.00 and for puppies is $200.00. At the time of adoption, each orphan is spayed or neutered, tested for heartworms if over six months of age, has been started on heartworm and flea prevention medication, has had a full veterinary exam, appropriate vaccinations, deworming treatments and additional treatments as needed on an individual basis.
Micro-chipping is available for an additional fee of $20.00.
Adoption Fees for Cats and What is Included
The adoption donation for cats is $85.00. At the time of adoption, each orphan is spayed or neutered has had a full veterinary exam, appropriate vaccinations, deworming treatments and additional treatments as needed on an individual basis.
Adopted pets are sent home with a goody bag that contains basic information, coupons, a sample bag of their food and a coupon for a free wellness exam from Center Grove Animal Clinic. This allows adopters the perfect opportunity to discuss which heartworm and flea prevention medications will be best for their newly adopted pet, as well as the opportunity for the adopter to discuss how the pet is adjusting to its new home.
Admitting Your Pet into our Orphanage
To have an animal considered for admission into our adoption program, our form will need to be filled out which can be picked up at U Dirty Dawg or Center Grove Animal Clinic. Filling out an application does not insure your animal a place in our orphanage. Each application will be reviewed in a timely manner. Our space is very limited at this time, however we have a building located behind our clinic that we plan to finish in the very near future so that we can fulfill the needs of more homeless animals.
We invite you to e-mail a picture of the animal you are trying to place to email@example.com with "admittance application photo" as the subject line of your e-mail. Remember to include the name of the pet in the text of your e-mail so that we can quickly identify which picture goes with your admittance application.
You may also submit a picture and brief description for the Center Grove Pet Rescue & Orphanage bulletin board located in our facility at no charge, and/or this information may also be placed on our petfinder home page for a month with a $20 donation to the orphanage.
As every animal that comes into our rescue is different, some require additional medical care such as heartworm treatment, x-rays, surgery or long-term medication. These expenses are not typically covered by incoming adoption fees. We appreciate monetary donations to help cover these costs.
