Who We Are

Dogs Deserve Better is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization dedicated to freeing chained and penned dogs and brining them into the home and family. Every dog on our page has been rescued from a chained or penned life and are in need of a loving home where they will be an inside dog and never be chained or penned again. All of our dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and on heart worm preventative.

DDB Mission Statement

Dogs Deserve Better's mission is to bring dogs into the home and family from a chained or penned existence. The organization addresses three aspects of societal needs to accomplish this mission: Education, Legislation, and Rescue and Rehabilitation. Through education we elevate individual standards for animal treatment through direct one on one and group contact; through legislation we create more humane laws to protect dogs from living at the end of a chain for life or enclosed in a small space with little to no human contact; and through rescue and rehabilitation we create better lives for individual dogs by fencing yards, helping with housetraining, and fostering, spay/neuter, and finding the dog a new inside home and family

Also, if you feel unsure, go sit down near a chained dog and just look at him for awhile. This too is a great resolve strengthener, as you will really think, this is just NOT ok!

Don't get a Dog if ...

You can not afford to take him to a vet when he gets sick or injured.

You can not afford dog food and heart worm and flea prevention.

You can not afford annual rabies and parvo vaccinations.

You can not afford to spay or neuter them.

You do not have a stable living situation which allows dogs.

You do not have a stable job or income.

You don't plan to keep him inside and leash walk him or you don't have a secure fenced area.

You don't plan to socialize him to people and other pets and obedience train him.

You plan to leave him outside without much attention. Dogs that are left neglected outside become unhappy and cause barking problems or worse.

You are getting the dog just for your kids. You will be the one responsible for his care, so don't get a dog just because your son wants one.

You aren't committed to caring for him for his entire 10-15 year lifespan.
Rescue Me ...

Rescue me not only with your hands but with your heart as well. I will respond to you.

Rescue me not out of pity but out of love. I will love you back.

Rescue me not with self-righteousness but with compassion. I will learn what you teach.

Rescue me not because of my past but because of my future. I will relax and enjoy.

Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life. I will appreciate your gift.

Rescue me not only with a caring heart but with tolerance and patience. I will please you.

Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I'm to become. I will grow and mature.

Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me. I will never let you down.

Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust. I will be loyal and true.

Rescue me not to be chained or to fight but to be your companion. I will stand by your side.

Rescue me not to replace one you've lost but to soothe your spirit. I will cherish you.

Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend. I will give you unconditional love. Please Rescue Me!
